Check for tangles in the filament spool, a short guide can be found here.
Check the tension lever on top of the toolhead.

Push the lever all the way back to loosen the grip around the filament.

Pull the lever two clicks towards you to tighten

The green lever is how much the toolhead will grip the filament. Anything more than two clicks will apply too much tension, preventing the filament from feeding through the nozzle. || CPX Filament needs 3 clicks forward instead of two.

Reload the Filament.

Heat nozzle. On the printer screen click Change Filament → 240 ℃ (for PETG).

Press LOAD on the printer screen ( You might not see LOAD and UNLOAD , you may see continuous and momentary. Select Continuous to load or unload the filament, as the Momentary option can cause issues with the printer.)

 >>Let it extrude until you see 4-6 inches of filament; then you can stop it by pressing **LOAD **or **Continuous** again.

Try a new roll of filament.

If you’re failing to feed the filament through, it most likely means there is a clog in the nozzle. Follow these steps to unclog the filament.

Unclogging the Asteroid Toolhead

Basics things to try first:

Push the green lever all the way back (this loosens the tension completely). Then pull the filament out of the toolhead.

Use a pliers to get a better grip on filament to remove the stuck filament if you need to

After the filament has been removed, try to load filament and push it through at the normal temperature then if it still doesn’t work increase temp to 290C
If that doesn't work, carefully push a 2mm hex into the toolhead, from the top. The filament stuck inside may extrude out of the toolhead

Make sure to fully cool down tool head before removing.

|| Be gentle with the toolhead during disassembly. Cables and connection are more fragile than they appear. If you are confused or damage occurs during disassembly, let Protosthetics know right away. Delayed notice of breakage or negligence during a disassembly may incur a repair fee.

Task 1: Remove tool head from printer.

It may be helpful to lower the tool head.

Click Menu → Move Axis → Park for Tool Head Swap

Flip the red switch on the printer to the off position.
Remove Proto cover by unscrewing top center screw using the 2.5mm hex key

Loading and Unloading Filament

Unloading Filament

Select Change Filament on the main screen and heat the nozzle up to the appropriate temperature:

Push down the black rubber guide tube holder on top of the toolhead and pull out the guide tube.

After the toolhead is within 5 degrees of the desired temperature, select "Unload"

Softly Pull the filament out of the tool head.

Cut the end of the filament at a steep angle (~45 degrees) above any ridges.

|| Make sure you have a firm grip on the filament. If you let go of the filament, the roll will unspool and could cause a filament tangle

Before we cover how to change Z-Offset, let's go over why we care about Z-Offset

If your Z-Offset is too high, the filament won't adhere to the bed and the print won't come together properly, making a large mess on the bed.

If your Z-Offset is too low, the filament will get smothered into the bed, cake onto the toolhead, break the toolhead and create a huge mess to clean.

| When swapping to the Copoly Printing bed, you may need to raise the Z-Offset to compensate for the thicker bed. Be sure to note your original Z-Offset before you change it.

Prep Copoly Plate with BuildTak Bond

Check that two silver tabs of the Copoly plate are in the back
Apply BuildTak Bond on cold Copoly plate.
Heat bed to 50C and let dry. You can select Preheat on the main screen to heat the bed to 60C, which is fine.
After the Bond dries, you are ready to start printing. Feel free to start your first Copoly print and let us know how it goes!

| The layer of BulidTak Bond will last several prints before having to be cleaned and reapplied.

After a print has been completed, you'll need to reheat the bed to 50°C to remove the print.

|| You can select Preheat again on the main screen to heat the bed to 60C, which is fine.

Using the scraper, carefully peel the print from the bed, being sure not to use too much pressure.

Installing the Asteroid Tool Head

Task 1: Remove the current tool head

Tools & Supplies Needed:

Micro cutters
2.5mm Hex key

Instructions:

| Allow it to cool down before removing.

|| It may be helpful to lower the tool head.

|| Click Menu → Move Axis → Filament or Tool Head Swap

1.1 Remove filament from current tool head by cutting the filament leaving a ~3” tail.

1.2 Turn the printer off by flipping the red switch.

1.3 Remove the Proto Cover from the tool head by unscrewing the the top center screw indicated in the below picture.

|| Tape screw to the Proto cover & store in the tool tray inside the drawer.

1.4 Unplug the black wire connector.

|| Press the little lever down (on left side) and gently pull apart.

1.5 Securely hold the tool head with one hand while unscrewing the two top screws and the one long screw in the back of the tool head.

|| Keep the two top screws. They will be needed for Task 2.

1.6 For safe keeping, screw the long screw into the back of the HS+ tool head and set aside for now.
