Copoly Plate Maintenance

The Copoly plate will need to be cleaned to help ensure that filament is properly laid down and is secured on the surface.

The plate should be cleaned after every 10 prints.

Here is what a new vs clean vs dirty Copoly plate will look like:

Brand new plate

Dirty plate

What you will need:

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) (90% or higher)

Paper towels

Scraper

BuildTak Bond

Instructions:

1.) Pour IPA onto BuildTak plate and let sit for 2-5 minutes.
2.) Scrub with paper towel and if needed, gently scrape filament residue with a scraper. Then wipe off with a dry paper towel.
3.) Repeat steps 1 and 2 until clean.

For really stubborn spots: pour IPA and let sit for 5-10 minutes then use scraper to GENTLY lift off plastic pieces.

4.) Let plate air dry or wipe IPA off thoroughly with paper towel(s) and then put back on the printer’s magnetic bed.

Pinching Hazard: Use caution as strong magnetic force may pinch hand/fingers.

5) Apply BuildTak Bond.

Squeeze the bottle while moving in a circular motion on the installed Copoly Plate to cover in a smooth layer of BuildTak Bond.

6.) Increase the bed temperature to 50℃.

On the printer screen:

* Click Menu → Temperature.

* Set the increment control to 10.

* Use the “+” control next to “Bed” and set to 50℃.

Hot Surface: The bed will be warm to touch once heated.

7.) Wait 5 to 10 minutes to allow the BuildTak bond to dry. (It’s a good time to grab that cup of coffee you been waiting for all day.)

8.) Once BuildTak Bond is dried, you’re ready for your next print!
