Task 2: Install the Asteroid Tool Head

Tools & Supplies Needed:

Asteroid Tool Head w/ attached BLTouch Sensor
2.5mm hex key
2 small screws from task 2 (that were on top of tool head)
1 Long thumbscrew (for the back of tool head)

Instructions:

Before you begin notes:

Do NOT set the Asteroid Tool Head on the Magnetic bed as this may damage the BLTouch sensor.

You may set the tool head next to the printer inside the kiosk.

2.1 Align the circular grooves on the Asteroid Tool Head with the mount on printer.

2.2 Hold the tool head in place with one hand. Then, screw in the long back thumb screw FIRST, followed by the top two screws.

2.3 Fully tighten the top two screws with a 2.5mm hex key.

2.4 Plug in the BLTouch connectors

Need to do these first b/c wires are short and must go under the tool head wires.

2.5 Plug in the black tool head connectors together (the one with the silver sticker on the back and bundle of wires)

2.6 Turn on the printer and verify that BLTouch light is solid red.

You will see that BLTouch will be lit solid red (indicating it is working properly) and the probe will extend and retract twice when the printer is first turned on.

Be sure to let Galileo know as soon as it’s on so they can autotune the toolhead for printing!

Woohoo!!! You have successfully installed the Asteroid Tool Head!

If the red light on the BLTouch is blinking, then there is an error with the BLTouch sensor.

Try this:
|| Turn off printer.
|| Verify that all connectors are fully plugged in.
|| Turn printer back on. Is the red light still blinking?
|| No → it is working properly and you may move onto Task 3.
|| Yes → the tool head will need to be sent back to us and we will send a new one asap.

Followup on the support ticket with the installation update and we'll send you a return label.
