Loading and Unloading Filament

Unloading Filament

  1. Select Change Filament on the main screen and heat the nozzle up to the appropriate temperature:

CPX

  1. Push down the black rubber guide tube holder on top of the toolhead and pull out the guide tube.

  1. After the toolhead is within 5 degrees of the desired temperature, select "Unload"

  1. Softly Pull the filament out of the tool head.

      • If the filament feels stuck and is not coming out, follow step Step 1, outlined in this guide

Loading/Extruding Filament

  1. Cut the end of the filament at a steep angle (~45 degrees) above any ridges.

Make sure you have a firm grip on the filament. If you let go of the filament, the roll will unspool and could cause a filament tangle

Push down the black rubber guide tube holder on top of the toolhead and pull out the guide tube if you haven't done so already

  1. Insert the spool onto the filament holder so the cut end points over and towards the back of the cabinet. Then thread the filament through the guide tube until 3-4 inches of filament are pulled through the tube.

Do not insert the filament into the toolhead at this time

Loading the Filament

  1. Set the Green Tension Lever to the correct setting. Always push the filament lever towards the back of the kiosk, then pull it towards yourself the appropriate number of clicks

TPU and CPX

3 Clicks of Tension

Also look behind the Green Tension Lever, you'll be able to see open notches. The number of open notches is your tension level. 2 Open notches is 2 clicks of tension.

Tension Notches

  1. After the toolhead is within 5 degrees of the desired temperature, select "Load" on the printer's screen to start extruding filament, then insert the filament into the top of the toolhead. After you feel the filament being pulled, let the filament go and wait until you see filament extruding from the nozzle.

Caution! Nozzle will be hot.

  1. If you are swapping filament rolls, and keeping the filament the same, extrude 3 inches of filament and select "Load" on the printer screen to stop extruding filament. Otherwise, continue extruding filament until impurities stop for 6 inches.

  1. Secure the guide tube by pushing it into place, then clean the nozzle wit the maroon scrubbing pad.

You have successfully loaded filament and you are ready to start your next print! A job well done!
