Replacing the Hat(Blue Computer) in the Kiosk

To replace the Hat in the kiosk, start by first unplugging the kiosk power cord. Remove the panel on the back of the kiosk, and then unplug the following cables from the blue circuit board pictured below. All requested pictures will be needed to resolve this issue. Please do not skip taking any pictures at any step of the way.

Tools you'll need:


Flat head Screwdriver
Philips head Screwdriver
Hat Replacement

Unplug all of the cables from the Hat(Blue Computer) and unscrew the green connectors with a flathead screwdriver

Undo the 4 corner screws as shown below and carefully remove them with a Philips Head Screwdriver

Very Carefully remove the Hat from the Pi. The blue computer will pull straight out and need to be set aside. If the Hat does not pull straight out, alternate pulling the top and bottom of the Hat until it comes out. Review the pictures below before removing the Hat.

The Green computer behind the Hat is held onto the mount by Screw Joints and won't fall.

Where to Pull

Take a picture of the Pi(green computer) with the Hat Removed. We will need this picture to later examine the condition of the Pi.

Carefully insert the new Hat into the Pi like you removed it. After aligning the pins to the port, the gold screw joints should align with the holes on the Hat. Press on the two holes as shown in the photo to avoid poking yourself on the pointy parts of the Hat

Hat Installation

Plug the unplugged cables back into the Hat and screw in the green connector with its corresponding wires

Install cables in Hat

Plug the kiosk power back in and look for the related issue to be resolved or persisting.
