Scanning via iPhone Protosthetics Scanning App


Learn how to install and use the Protosthetics Scan & 3D Print app on your iPhone.



  • Before scanning, open your menu, and click “Settings.” Scroll down to “Scanning with Color,” and then set it to “Per Vertex.” This will ensure your scans come through in color.


  • Scanning is only available with the front camera. Try attaching a mirror attachment to better see what you’re scanning!

    Written Instructions


    • Go to App Store on your iPhone, search for Protosthetics, and press “Get” to download the (free) app.






    • Open the app. Sign in using your credentials.




    • Starting at the blue hand, swipe to the right. This will open the menu.
      Press on Practitioner to add a new practitioner.




    • Fill out the practitioner info



    • Click back twice to reopen the menu. Insert a new patient this time. Then, click the gray arrow at the bottom.



    • Click on the body part you’d like to scan.
      For legs, click the knee > then select AK or BK.



    • Take your scan, paying close attention to when it says stop, reposition, or move closer/further away.
