Unclogging the Asteroid Toolhead

Basics things to try first:



Push the green lever all the way back (this loosens the tension completely). Then pull the filament out of the toolhead.
Use a pliers to get a better grip on filament to remove the stuck filament if you need to

After the filament has been removed, try to load filament and push it through at the normal temperature then if it still doesn’t work increase temp to 290C

If that doesn't work, carefully push a 2mm hex into the toolhead, from the top. The filament stuck inside may extrude out of the toolhead

Taking apart the tool head:


Required Tools & Supplies:



2.5mm hex key

2mm hex key

needle nose pliers



Instructions:



Small Parts: Keep track of all screws and washers!

Make sure to fully cool down tool head before removing.

Task 1: Remove tool head from printer.


It may be helpful to lower the tool head.

Click Menu → Move Axis → Filament or Tool Head Swap

Flip the red switch on the printer to the off position.

Remove Proto cover by unscrewing top center screw using the 2.5mm hex key



Unplug all three connectors



Unscrew the top two screws using the 2.5mm hex key





Unscrew the long, back screw




Task 2: Remove toolhead from the printer



Gently place the toolhead aside

You can place screws on the magnetic bed to keep them in one place


Task 3: Remove the circular fan and fan shroud



Remove the screw on fan using a 2mm hex key.



Pull circular fan out



Remove the 2 front fan shroud screws using a 2mm hex key.



Remove the side fan shroud screw using a 2mm hex key



Slide fan shroud off




Task 4: Remove the square fan and heat sink



Unscrew the top two screws on the square fan using a 2.5mm hex key, and then pull the square fan off



Remove the the two heat sink screws using a 2mm hex key



Pull the heat sink off




Task 5: Remove the clog



1 Use a needle nose pliers to pull out filament




Task 6: Reassemble the tool head and attach on printer.


Reverse steps 1.3 to 4.3 (no need to put proto cover back on)

Turn on printer
